At the core of the model is a standard: a product specification with defined quality parameters and points of origin (or destination)
We work hand-in-hand with industry to identify specifications around which liquidity can develop.
All of Global Commodities Holdings’ standard specification transactions are underpinned by STA-M – our Standard Trading Agreement for Metals. STA-M defines all delivery terms and conditions including obligations, adjustments, default provisions and sanctions.
Our online trading platform shines a light on what’s selling, what’s being sought, and at what price.
Members can see what bids and offers are available in real-time, for each specification, and in any delivery period. All prices are firm, and are tradeable by a minimum number of counterparties.
Looking to make a deal? With prices posted by one of your approved counterparties, it’s as simple as ‘click-and-trade’.
We take exception to paper traders and algorithms setting prices.
Our tried-and-tested index methodology relies solely on the pricing points generated by buyers and sellers placing orders and/or transacting on our online trading platform.
All inputs are 100% genuine and 100% comparable and the quality of the output is underpinned by our sturdy governance framework.
See it for yourself – members can view the calculation of our indices in real-time, including all qualifying inputs.
We partner with ICE Futures Europe to offer derivative contracts that enable buyers and sellers to effectively manage their price risk.
These contracts settle against Global Commodities Holdings’ physically-derived benchmarks, ensuring a tight link to the physical markets.
Our derivatives offering currently includes high-CV thermal coal, with more soon to follow.
Global Commodities Holdings has been transforming commodity markets since 2000. Our first venture, globalCOAL, brought transparency to the opaque environment in which thermal and metallurgical coal were trading. Today, it manages the globalCOAL NEWC Index – the reference price for thermal coal in Asia-Pacific and the settlement basis for the ICE gC NEWC Futures contract.
Our team is always on the lookout for new opportunities.
